The purpose of the script was to understand what Erik is, to who is it targeted, what’s its role and how does it help in the context of the user life.

I selected the 3rd and 5th version of the script to explore further, for two reasons they allow the audience to be in the shoes of Eriks users, and shorter production time.

The video narrator style and tone are important factors to determine how Erik communicates with users and what type of relationship does Erik and the users have. Is it purely transactional or there’s more depth to it?

After I started sketching the storyboard I realised it needed more definition. What is the scenery? How many people will be needed? What does Erik message to the user? What’s the name of the user? Etc…

Tuesday (Writing an intelligible solid script )

I combined most of the story elements into 7th version of the script.

The story is narrated by Erik and introduces Max a shy guy that hasn’t been lucky with his dating live. Max decides to use the app to start taking control of his seduction skills. Erik advices him and challenges hims to do different drills, and exercises (approaching girls in different contexts, embracing vulnerability, body language, vocal tonality, etc..) to become better at making friends and being more authentic when approaching girls. At the end the story hints that Erik is a companion app rather than an app that you use for a short period of time. Is not just an app to become better at hooking up, but to maintain a good and healthy relationship.

I also started a new storyboard.

Wednesday (Detailed storyboarding)

I redefined the storyboard indicating what is needed for when filming the ad.

The video style splits Max actions in one side of the screen with Eriks messaging on the other side. The audience can see how Erik is in context.

Thursday 16 (Website structure and layout)

The whole project consists of a website, a promotional video, and an application. In my plan the app was part of phase 2 and website was part of the phase 3. I contradicted my plan, and started with the website, because I felt it would be interesting to explore before exploring Eriks interface.

So I started by structuring the content in different sections. The sections respond to the basic questions potential users might ask themselves (What?, Why?, How?, Who?, When?, Where?).

I started sketching different formats for the page. I liked the idea of a written format from Eriks perspective with imagery or video inline with the text.

Please feel free to comment or ask questions about this project.
