Last month (October 2017), I was invited to deliver a talk themed; “The Last Mover Advantage: A Case for Technology And Innovation” at Union Bank’s Centenary Celebration Event, titled: “The Next 100 Years — A Call to Action” which held on 25th October, 2017.

On this auspicious celebration of Union Banks 100 year celebration, i found it quite bold and inspiring that the bank had chosen to use this platform to speak truth to power and put together a great routine of speakers to address very relevant issues including the role of women, the jobs of the future and the role of tech in Africa’s future.

Since it was going to be a room full of captains of industry, CEO’s and HNI’s I choose to use the opportunity to make a case for the urgent need for unlocking more local finance (capital) to support the growth of our startups that are building the future of Africa.

Unfortunately a day to the occasion, I fell terribly ill, was hospitalized and was unable to deliver this very important message at the occasion.

But here you have it.

I want to say thank you to the MD/CEO of Union Bank Mr Emeka Emuwa for the visionary leadership in making this event happen this way, and for the thoughtfulness & humility of visiting me at the hospital.

Thank you to Ngozichukwuka Akinyele, Ogochukwu Ekezie-Ekaidem and the entire Union Bank team for being such amazing hosts.

Thank you to Prof Paddy Anigbo for helping us all prepare for the big stage.

I hope this message resonates with our HNI’s, Captains of Industry and Investors to get in the ring of play and fund a startup today. : )

For Union Bank — ✊🏿 to another 100 years!

#Selah
