Exploring mind map sign posts
I’ve had the unique opportunity to frequently relocate my life. Different countries, regions, cultures and circumstances. Each relocation began with an internal adjustment period of “mind map” establishment. The tedious creation of an internal reality to match the external that allows greater functioning in the new environment as it is fully developed.
The mind map establishment framework always begins with the physical surroundings, what we consider a map to actually represent, places and things needed for immediate survival. Once initialized, a dynamic physical map, always growing, always changing, gradually opens the immediately surrounding world for exploration. The driver’s seat to exploration.

Mind map evolution continues from the initial physical map to sensory maps to emotional maps to intellectual maps. Some developing simultaneously. Others as a result of the need for understanding. Each individual mind map exists on its own. Gaining complexity as it evolves from introduction to overlapping understanding. Complexity derived from information gathered much like a band of army ants using complex foraging raid patterns involving thousands of individuals communicating through chemical trails. Over time a pattern emerges.
Patterns are not concrete and change frequently to further define internal reality. Reality constantly changes and the map must also change. Communication is interaction with this newly established internal reality. Walking the paths. Driving the roads. Tasting the foods. Building a fortress of comfort to bind one to place that will allow the next exploration.
I create sign posts along the way of mind map development. It’s how I record and further explore the depth of each new adventure. My intent is to share these sign posts here. Some with stories, some are stories in themselves, but always discovering something new to add to a mind map.
