#UFC216 was a success inside and out of the octagon. We saw Mighty Mouse pull some League Of Shadows ninja submission moves, Tony Ferguson son’d Kevin Lee like he said he was going to, and Werdum made easy work of Derrick Lewis’ replacement, Walt Harris.
It was nice to see the Lightweight division get a definitive interim champ that can now set sights on a unification fight, but after this event ended I gravitated towards Dana White and his thoughts on the ‘Vegas Strong’ initiative going on. He made clear in his pressed following the main event that country singer, Jason Aldean, was not welcome in Las Vegas ever again! White wanted Aldean to perform the National Anthem at the T-Mobile Arena Saturday night (thousands of first responders/victims were in attendance) just days after the mass shooting that took place during Aldean’s concert on the Vegas Strip. According to White, Aldean declined the offer because he was still recovering emotionally and was considering never performing again; understandable. To the surprise of many, Aldean flew off to NYC to appear on Saturday Night Live, and when the UFC President caught wind of this, he told the media how he felt…
“F*ck you Jason Aldean. Stay out of Vegas.” — Dana White, UFC President
😬
…but other than that, the UFC community is now itching for McGregor and Ferguson to, as Featherweight champ Max Holloway would say, ‘do the damn thing’!
