Forgotten War Heroes

This is a series about some of history’s forgotten heroes. These are men and women that made a lasting difference during some of the biggest, and deadliest, wars this world has ever seen.

Witold Pilecki

Witold Pilecki was a Polish cavalry officer, intelligence agent and resistance leader during World War 2.

He was one of the first individuals to raise concerns about concentration camps in and around Poland.

He was part of an operation that involved being deliberately captured and imprisoned in one of these camps.

Witold was imprisoned in one of the most famous, and most notorious camps of them all.

Auschwitz-Birkenau.
