building SERIES for web!
About a year ago, we built out SERIES on Medium, a story format designed for mobile with gorgeous full screen images + visual polish.
Posts on Medium tend to have a lot of gravitas, and we wanted something that felt lighter + more fun.
You could update series organically in short bursts and develop them over time
It’s one of my favorite things we’ve built during my time here, but as an entirely native experience, it was also a project I was not needed on as a web client engineer
I was on the fledgling subscriptions team at the time coming up with less and ….more horrible ways to implement avatar halos that break in the center but also have rounded stroke ends at arbitrary points that don’t scale with avatar sizes
and forlornly observed the beautiful demos + constant streams of laughter from across the aisle
