Cyber-security for Friends and Families

The term ‘cyber’ relates to computers, especially connected ones, the information technology components and also to the virtual reality world. As we get into the cyber age, our friends and family members are increasingly using this web of computers to send and receive information, interact with peers and conduct so many other businesses.

Cybersecurity has been largely defined as the processes and technologies that relate to the protection of computers, the information they hold or transmit and the programs they execute, from unauthorised access or use. However, in this series, the safety of the users and the protection of the human entities that are involved in the cyber space has also been made an important aspect of cyber security.

The focus of this series is to use largely non-technical terms to explain different topical issues in cyber-security for our friends and relatives. The idea is for them to understand the technical terms that are relevant to their everyday usage of the cyber space, think about possible threats and protect themselves from being harmed both physically and emotionally by adversarial internet users.

These will be achieved in a 30-day series. The posts and videos will be made on the working days of the week. The outline of this series is given at the weekly levels as follows:
