I’m not a historian but it’s clear to see that the internet has evolved in many different ways over the past decade. I’d argue the biggest evolution occurred in how people engage with the internet. More specifically, the length of time that they want to spend per item online.
One of Medium’s greatest inventions was the time to read count on posts. It was a dead simple way to understand how much I’m going to “spend” reading something.
Series renders that useless and goes against everything the internet currently stands for — quick, constant consumption of many things at once.
