Rainwater Catchment

Here at the Ecovillage I’m learning to maintain the garden swales that collect our rainwater. Our rainwater is collected by pipes running from our roof and by grates across the driveway. The water then runs into the rainwater swales and percolates down into out aquifer where we pump it up and use it for garden water. When we get heavy rains then some of the water spills out into the street and down the storm drains. We are building a structure to hold some fun elements like rain chains and kinetic sculptures. The following are photos and text about the progress of our rain water catchment systems and artwork.
