Top 5 Seth Rogen

Seth Rogen is a 35 year old actor from Canada. Seth spent his early years as a teenager before becoming famous, as a stand-up comedian. This eventually was able to help him land his breakthrough role on the T.V Show Freaks and Geeks (1999–2000), where he starred as Ken Miller, alongside other now household names in Hollywood such as Linda Cardellini, James Franco, and Jason Segel. Rogen then went on to make his feature film debut in the movie Donnie Darko. Rogen has gone on to make a name for him self in comedy films, while also starring in some great dramatic films with good performances. He is also a great film producer/writer along with childhood best friend Evan Goldberg. These are his top 5 films:

5. Neighbors Franchise (2014–2016)

Neighbors (2014) and Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) are comedy films with essentially the same premise. In the first film Mac Radner (Rogen) and his wife Kelly (Rose Byrne) are disrupted from their everyday life, when a fraternity moves in across the street. And in the second film, they are trying to sell their house and a sorority moves in across the street. And in both of the films, they try to get the respective fraternity and sorority to move out, and then craziness ensues.

I really enjoyed the first film as I thought that the jokes were funny and the cast all did a great job, especially the main characters, played by Rogen, Byrne, and Zac Efron who plays the leader of the fraternity. I thought that this film was funny, had heart to it, and was an all around enjoyable experience to watch. And then came Neighbors 2, which even though the cast still did a good job, including newcomer Chloë Grace Moretz (Sorority Leader), the reasons I enjoyed the first film so much, ended up being the reasons I hated this film. It wasn’t funny, had almost no heart to it, and was generally a tough watch. Ultimately if this was just Neighbors, and Neighbors 2 never existed then this movie would probably be higher up on this list, however that isn’t what ended up happening. However it doesn’t completely remove it from the list, as I believe that it still deserves a spot on Rogen’s Top 5.

4.This Is The End (2013)

This is the End is a 2013 end of the world comedy film directed and written by Seth Rogen and Even Goldberg, with the former also starring in the film, as a version of himself. The story goes that Seth Rogen along with Jay Baruchel go to a party at James Franco’s house, then the apocalypse occurs. Those three along with Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and Danny McBride who ends up stealing every scene he is in. It also has a good cameo by Emma Watson and one by Michael Cera that will leave you dying laughing.

I think that this movie is really funny, as it almost let’s you inside of this friend group and their inside jokes. And even though each one of them has theirselves playing outlandish versions of themselves, it’s still believable that this is what they are each actually like. Seth Rogen does a great job in this film in all three phases of his roles (Directing, Writing, Acting) and I think that this is the movie that helped him get his groove back as he had been going through a rough patch with some of his movie choices. This is a movie that deserves to be on this list and will leave you laughing even after the credits role.
