Scrum is a great framework for developers. Here are 11 reasons why this is the case!

1. Development Team is in control of how much work they pick up

“The number of items selected from the Product Backlog for the Sprint is solely up to the Development Team.” — Scrum Guide 2017 Schwaber and Sutherland

Many believe that the Product Owner determines the plan for the coming Sprint. This is not the case. The Scrum Team as a whole determines the Sprint Goal and the Development Team determines the number of items for the coming Sprint. The Development Team is in control of how much they can do.

2. Development Team determines how to build an increment

“No one (not even the Scrum Master) tells the Development Team how to turn Product Backlog into Increments of potentially releasable functionality” — Scrum Guide 2017

The Product Owner is in the lead of ‘what’ is to be built. However often there are multiple ways to achieve this. This road — the ‘how’ — is determined by the Development Team.

3. Limited number of people determining what needs to be done
