The lamp goes out

Upon careful reflection, in light of
recent events,
Lady Liberty has rescinded her invitation.

Do not send your tired, your poor.
We have no room for masses.
We may accept
a few, eventually.
But, honestly, there’s enough refuse
here at home.

Our safety outweighs
your freedom, your huddled children.
You are not
our responsibility. After all, it is
better to be
safe, than sorry.
