According to a new study from Accenture, Millennials and Gen Z are fed up with traditional healthcare options and are looking for more convenient, transparent, affordable ways to access care. And, frankly, we don’t blame them.

For Millennials, the biggest pain points in traditional medical care are the cost of treatment (21%), wait times and the speed of an appointment (21%), and transparency about costs (18%).

For Gen Z, the main areas of dissatisfaction are the effectiveness of treatment (32%) with provider responsiveness, cost of treatment, and convenience tied for second (24%).

Sesame is the Remedy

With Millennials poised to become the single largest demographic group in the United States in 2019, and Gen Z totaling 61 million people, this combined demographic makes up 40% of the U.S. population.

When it comes to solving the shortcomings of the existing system and helping Millennials and Gen Z get care when and how they want it, Sesame is ahead of the pack.

We were founded on the idea that American healthcare needs to be more customer-driven, convenient, and affordable and we’re already doing that for people across Kansas City.

Access to all types of care, no referrals required

Millennials and Gen Z are less likely than older adults to have a primary care physician. This means getting access to specialists like dermatologists or an OBGYN can be more complicated, especially for people with HMO insurance plans.

Part of what makes Sesame different is that anyone can book an appointment with all kinds of specialists and services available to everyone — insured or not. From dermatologists and dentists, physiotherapists and pediatricians, and right down to individual services like x-rays and cavity fillings, Sesame has a huge range of care you can book yourself.

Traditional care needs an update

The old-fashioned way of seeing a doctor, from booking to the in-office experience, is leaving Millennials and Gen Z ‘Dissatisfied’ or ‘Very dissatisfied’, according to Accenture.

As their healthcare needs increase and become more complex, adults under 40 are increasingly looking “for services to satisfy their expectations for effectiveness, convenience, efficiency, and transparency.”

Sesame is innovating the answer

So, what are consumers looking for? “Care that is conveniently located, reputable… and has short wait times,” according to the study.

With appointments today, tomorrow, and the day after in the Kansas City area, Sesame is answering the need for timely care. In-office, telemedicine, and on-call nurse practitioners to help people find care are all standard with us.

Every physician on Sesame meets our stringent vetting standards and detailed public profiles make it easier to understand a doctor’s training, philosophy of care, clinical interests and more.

And price transparency is at the core of everything we do. With Sesame, you’ll always see the price of an appointment before you book it.

With simple online checkout, you’re guaranteed the low price you see is what you pay, eliminating surprise bills and hidden costs. Finally, buying care is the same as buying everything else in life.

Less Expensive Care. Better Value.

Among all demographics, price transparency and lower costs are the most important factors for satisfaction with care.
