A Community-Powered TRON Super Representative
A brief review plus a preview of future projects
As we reach 1 billion votes from our community, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all our voters and review a few of the achievements that we’ve made together, plus our vision for the future.
TRON SR Elections
Our campaign began in late April with a vision to provide fair and equal participation to the TRON community in the Super Representative process. Additionally, our team sought to conduct itself as a collective instrument of its community and fairly distribute the rewards it generated across its membership.
It was in keeping with those core beliefs that we developed SEED, SEEDGerminator, and the 80–10–10 model for reward distribution. We also opened our Telegram group and other social media channels to interact with the community.
Week after week as the TRON SR elections got closer, our engagement with the community went through the roof; Over 1,000% on most channels!
On July 10, 2018 we accomplished our first real milestone, being elected a community Super Representative of the TRON Network.
Keeping our promise from the very beginning, we continue to host an open dialogue with the community and represent them honestly and transparently.
SEED
SEED was the first token created on the TRON Network. It was developed as a method to distribute rewards to voters, and to fund DApps and technology proposed by developers on the SEEDGerminator platform. They are pegged 1:1 to TRX and exchangeable at any time to TRX.
Shortly after its development, a new feature was introduced to it that facilitated a simple and transparent voting and rewards mechanism to holders: Compound Interest. Prior to this, holders had to refreeze their entire balance for three days if they wanted to add their rewards to their vote. If the SR provided rewards daily, then the voter would have to also re-freeze daily.
With compound interest, Sesameseed scans the Blockchain for all addresses that hold SEED tokens every 6 hours, and rewards those accounts that have SEED tokens as if they are voting.
The benefits to this mechanism was that it created more holders, increased the value of SEED and its voting power, and its utility on SEEDGerminator.
SEEDGerminator
SEEDGerminator is a DApp and technology accelerator for the TRON Network. It was created with the belief that the community should actively take part in the development of the TRON Network, and for developers to campaign their projects directly to committed TRONICS who would utilize them.
Seedit was the first project funded by the accelerator. Before launching on Twitter, and since its inception on Telegram (roughly one month separating the two), Seedit achieved roughly 5MM TRX tipped with a little over 26K transactions. In under a week from launching on Twitter, it rocketed to over 10MM TRX and 50K+ transactions! It helped accelerate adoption of TRX across a new audience of users.
Shortly after, SEEDGerminator was filled with a host of projects seeking to continue developing innovative applications for the TRON Network and TRX.
- TronWatch Market — A secure, simple, and innovative decentralized exchange (DEX) aiming to provide the TRON community with a compelling trading platform for TRON Tokens and TRX.
- Eggies World — An interactive, open world game that leverages the unique characteristics of the blockchain for player interaction, gameplay and in game rewards.
- Poppy — A payment processor powered by the Tron Blockchain designed to seamlessly integrate into modern Point of Sale systems.
- TronCard —A fully-featured TRON wallet and open payment platform that works with many applications and wallets in the TRON ecosystem including Poppy.
As of October 30th SEEDGerminator has helped developers raise over $1,000,000 in TRX and SEED funding.
A Community-Powered Future
Our team remains focused on providing a platform to developers and the community, and continuing to add value to the TRON Network.
After decisively reaching its funding goal from the community on October 20th, the Poppy team has been working hard in its development. There is a lot of complexity being built into the TRC20 token to give it unique utility, such as how vendors and contributors can use it, and novel dividend and incentive features. We are working closely with the TRON Foundation to ensure it’s meticulously developed.
Key deadlines for the project remain mostly unchanged. Alpha versions of the payment cards have been ordered, and the non-public alpha version of Poppy has been tested on Clover. We will share more details about this via a Devlog later today.
TronCard has been one of the most exciting projects we’ve shared with the community thus far. It was incentivized to Poppy contributors receiving 10,000 Poppy tokens or more. Those eligible contributors will be part of the beta program and engage with our team to provide feedback and insight to create a robust card. The final designs for the card have been sent to the manufacturer and fully expect to have them ready by the end of the year.
SEEDGerminator will continue to evolve. Next week we will announce a new way to propose ideas to the platform and connect with the community to fund them.
Currently there are two projects on the platform, DIG for IT! and TronWallet, which are very close to launching their funding campaign. Each proposes to give the community new ways of interacting with the TRON Blockchain and earning rewards.
We are honored to have a diverse membership supporting us, and we promise to continue to serve each individual the way we have from the beginning, honestly and transparently.
