GRID introduces NEW BitTorrent card options
Learn how GRID works and how you can use it
GRID, now in its second week of pre-sales, has enjoyed a respectable start due to an excited, international community seeking new ways to hold and use their digital assets.
Along with order requests, there have also been questions and comments from the community about GRID, and the BitTorrent card. To better understand the concerns of the community, the Troncard team put together a brief survey. The results clearly show that many people are interested in holding GRID. However, there are several important matters that need to be addressed to better inform potential holders of the value of GRID.
Accessibility
By far, the largest request on the survey was to introduce GRID at a lower cost. This aligns with one of the key values of GRID, accessibility. Whether you’re buying it for yourself or someone else, GRID is designed to make holding digital currencies simple. This includes making it available in a variety of denominations to satisfy holders of all sizes.
Initially, the cards were offered at 15,000, 50,000, and 100,000 TRX. Starting today, GRID is also available in 2,500 (~$60) and 5,000 (~$120) TRX. The lower cost further reduces the barrier to entry to owning digital currencies, and enables GRID to achieve another of its key values, giftability.
Giftable
GRID was designed to be giftable like traditional gift cards. Unlike traditional gift cards, however, GRID offers added features and benefits. By purchasing a card and giving them to friends and family, GRID facilitates their introduction to digital currencies without the complexities of learning about exchanges, blockchain, or traditional digital wallets.
To make it easier to buy GRID for friends and family, Troncard offers a flat shipping rate for multiple cards ordered together. A total of 400 TRX covers as many cards as you wish to order.
Features
Security
Using a proprietary solution, including managing the private keys for each account, Troncard behaves as cold storage for your digital currencies. Once the card is registered, members are able to quickly and securely withdraw funds, or recover them from a lost card, using the Troncard claim service via the account manager. Additionally, the absence of a private key further increases the security of your digital assets by eliminating the risk of it being lost or stolen. Holders can rest assured that their assets will remain safe.
The account manager will allow GRID holders to safely transfer tokens to any other TRON wallet, and submit payments to processors like Coinpayments. An example of how this will work is in the Use Case section below.
Rewards
In addition to a bonus amount of BTT added to each card, GRID also earns rewards on your account balance, whether you use your card or not. The BitTorrent card will earn 1.5% annual interest on TRX held. The BitTorrent card will also support the BTT airdrop program, earning BTT airdrops in proportion to the balance of TRX held on the card at the time of said airdrop.
Use Case
Troncard has partnered with Poppy, to be usable at the point of sale. The blockchain-enabled POS app is currently under development, but it has already shown how easy it will be to use it to make purchases. At its debut in San Francisco, Poppy used GRID to process payments for coffee, beer, and other items using digital currencies.
Purchases made with Poppy will provide additional rewards to users. Poppy will share 1% of the transaction cost back in the form of Poppy tokens. More details can be found in the article on how the Poppy token works.
Using the Troncard account manager, you will be able to send p2p payments and transfer tokens to any other TRON wallet. You will also be able to submit a payment using Coinpayments to pay for BitTorrent and uTorrent Pro and Ads Free products.
Logistics
Fulfillment of GRID orders is scheduled to begin in early April. The cards will be shipped to the address you provide at the time of purchase via Amazon (FBA) or another third-party fulfillment company, depending on the region of the world the card is being shipped. To maintain the anonymity of individual holders, fulfillment centers will select cards at random to ship. No record will be kept of which card is shipped to a particular address, making it impossible to link a specific GRID card to a specific order.
