24 hours in Teresina — Brazil
Teresina! You have to get to know this city because it is one of the only northeast capitals without a beach. It is the one of the hottest cities in Brazil. It is the capital of Piaui, one the poorest states in Brazil, but has interesting things you must discover. Teresina is home to 700.000 pleasant people and you should visit Parnaiba, a historical and coastal city, and The Serra da Capivara, a UNESCO heritage site in Sao Raimundo Nonato. Teresina is the first planned brazilian capital and was founded on a fishermans village between two rivers, Parnaiba River and Poty River.
Friday — 12pm
The Petronio Portella Airport is a downtown airport and you can easily find nice and different options for accommodation. If want stay at the best hotel in Teresina, near there, you can find Metropolitan Hotel (metropolitanhotel.com.br) or if you don`t need to much, you can stay at Hotel Velho Monge (hotelvelhomonge.com.br)which is more simple but still confortable. Both options in downtown and can house you during your short-lived visit.
If you are hungry, you can start your gastronomy tour now, at Restaurante Sao Joao, in Teresina have two options but I suggest that you to go to more simple one at. (Centenário Av, 1187).There you must eat a best meat ever, made with special butter, sided by other tipical foods like pacoca, farofa, vinagrete and cooked macaxeira, this one is excellente example of the best tipical food of Piaui.There you could try a natural drink called Cajuina , made with cashew fruit. The tip is how most clear most delicious cajuina is.

After lunch, you can go on a walk by Polo Ceramico and, if you can carry, you must buy some special and internationally prized craftwork. Spend some time seeing the artesians doing incredible things by hand. It`s specially and very traditional. Nearby, you must go to Encontro do Rios Park and drink a cold beer at Pesquerinho Restaurant, this peculiar resturant is floating on meeting between two rivers, Parnaiba and Poty. It`s rudimentary but interesting.
7pm
You should go to Raul Lopes Av, in the early evening when the temperature get better, locals go to cooper, to ride a bike, to skate, at Potycabana Park or the river`s edge. There, I recommend that you go up to Ponte Estaiada Observatory to get a great view of the Teresina skyline.

To start your night, you must go to Camarao do Elias Restaurant(Pedro Almeida Av, 457 São Cristóvão), another typical restaurant but now this is a seafood restaurant. There you can try every kind of traditional foods and all are amazing. Pay attention to spicy choices and with tipical drinks made with cachaca, because they are delicious. After all, your night not finished yet. If you want to extend your night and if you want more liveliness, you should go to the Pink Elephant (Homero Castelo Branco Av, 309 ) or Planeta Diario (Aviador Irapuã Rocha St, 1261, Joquei), which is nightclub and pub, respectivaly, and you really have fun there.
Saturday 8pm
Wake up early, because the sooner yoy get there better. We should go to Praca da Bandeira (Flag Square), there the birthplace of Teresina, you will see historic buildings, including City Town Hall and Museum of State, you can go on walk to Old Market, Shopping of City and Troca-Troca, three kinds of picturesque market you must visit. You have never seen anything like this before, the most different is Troca-Troca, there you can exchange anything with others. But in the Old Market, you must buy any traditional sweets called Rapadura, a sugarcane extract or any LiliDoces, a local brand of tipical sweets, it`s amazing!

Lunch time! Now I recommend you two options. Favorito Comidas Tipicas (Favorite Tipical Food) and Favorito Grill (Favorite Grill), two restaurants belonging to the same main restaurants. The first one, I think is better, you can find others delicious tipical foods, including “Tudo de um pouco”, for 3 or 4 people, this choice have three version of the same kind of chicken sided by others amazing tipical foods.
