A cool, crowded block
Madison Square Garden or simply “MSG” is located between seventh and eighth avenues and atop Pennsylvania Station. It is a home to ice shows, entertainment, concerts and sports such as boxing, basketball and ice hockey.
MSG was constructed between 1963 and 1969 and before that there was a historic railroad station named Pennsylvania Railroad. It took 6 years for it to be constructed, from 1904 to 1910. It was one of the architectural jewels of New York.
It operated from 1910 until it’s demolition in 1963. In order to trade this historic building, MSG was constructed and it is the most famous arena in the world.
Today is hockey day and everywhere I look I can see people cheering, yelling and smiling. Right now everybody is kind of the same, but I still can notice younger couples, older people and little children really excited for their very first hockey game.
A few minutes before the game starts there’s a rush for some pizza and soda below the stadium. Inside, the rush continues for some hot dogs and beer. A few people are looking for restrooms and everybody is looking for their seats.
The excitement is almost touchable and when the game begins it all turns into a real big party.
At the end, a happy crowd walks to the subway and to the sidewalk, if you are a sports fan you can’t miss the experience of a hockey game at MSG.
