Argo is a 2012 political film that tells a story by a CIA agent who is trying to rescue American citizens that were held prisoner by Iranian activists.

First, in 1979, more than 50 Embassy workers were trapped inside the United States Embassy during a takeover by Iranian activists in Tehran, the capital of Iran, in reprisal of the U.S. President for giving the Sha asylum in the U.S during the Iranian Revolution.

Second, six U.S diplomats got away and were rescued by the Canadian Ambassador in Iran, who permitted them to stay in his house until the CIA find some way to took them out of Iran.

Next, the CIA’s agent Tony Mendez, played by Ben Affleck, who was also director of the film, assumed the case and came up with the craziest idea: to fake a Sci-Fi flick that would be filmed in Iran’s desert. The purpose of faking this movie, which was called Argo, was to bring the Embassy diplomats back to the United States.

Later, already in Tehran, Tony Mendez met the Embassy diplomats and gave them their new passports with new identities to create a cover to sneak past the Iranian Immigration at the airport.

Then, the Iranian police discovered that the Sci-Fi flick was a lie and all the Embassy diplomats were going to the airport to scape the country.

*SPOILER* Finally, the operation was a success and they got back home.

I think that Argo shows us that no idea is never too crazy that can’t be a good way to deal with a problem. Sometimes, in real life, we must be a little crazy to deal with our own problems. If we live our lives always walking on the line, how boring would be that? That’s the reason I liked the film so much!

In the film, Tony Mendez represents hope, because he is the only one who can save the Embassy workers and bring them home.

The six Embassy workers represent unity, because they have to stay together in order to Tony Mendez’s plan be successful.

The part I liked the most, which was also the most important event of the film, is when the plane took its tires off the ground. That’s the moment when you know that their freedom is guaranteed.

Overall, I would strongly recommend Argo because it is a deep movie, it is not some movie that you will watch today and forget tomorrow. Besides that, it won the Oscar of Best Motion Picture of 2012, so it’s worth spending some hours on it. Finally, it has a great story, good characters, wonderful cast and a creative new director.
