Inspiring Happiness

Dear Diary:

One Friday, I went to a bar called Krug’s. Us Brazilians love this type of bar because it’s typically American. They have burgers, beer, basketball games on TV, and a jukebox. As I entered, everybody gave us the good old fashioned up and down. I felt a little judged, but went ahead to our table anyway. Nobody was interacting in the bar, and it seemed colder inside than outside. After the worst playlist that I had ever heard in my life finished playing, my boyfriend and I rushed for our turn at the jukebox. We put on a bunch of songs and danced back to the table singing.

A couple of beers later, a woman approached us. She propped herself up and slurred, “Hey, what are you guys on? You’re so happy!” as if we were doing something out of the ordinary. A little confused, I replied, “it’s just blue moon…” and she left with a doubtful “yeah, right, blue moon” look on her face.

What she doesn't know is that we are Brazilian and we don’t need too many reasons to enjoy life. We’ll even dance to the sound of raindrops.
