Nostrand Ave + Clifton Place

My neighborhood is located in Brooklyn, specifically on the corner of Nostrand Ave + Clifton Place. This is a place that was so dangerous some years ago, but now it’s a good place to walk and eat something.

Nostrand Avenue takes this name from Gerret Noorstrandt, one of the earliest members of the Flatbush Dutch Reformed Church.

On Nostrand Ave there are some good places to eat. The first one is Kennedy a restaurant with fast food service like chicken and pizza and it is so cheap. Then you can find the Cinnamon Girl is a store that sell an excellent homemade bread and croissants, organic food and good ice cream. You can sit on a chairs and see what is happening outside.

Next to this place, you can find The Civil Service Cafe. That is a wonderful place to eat something like soup, sandwich or have a coffee.
But there is an important place on Clifton place that is a house that is decorated for every holiday or theme of the year. So right now it has many red hearts for Valentine’s Day and everybody can look at it.

On this block there are many people walking during the day, especially in the mornings because many kids have to go to school and the adults go to their jobs. It is a very calm neighborhood, but there is a building under construction on the Nostrand Ave and some nights there are some police cars or ambulances that pass through here so some days it is a noisy place.

when I’m walking on the Nostrand Ave, I can smell the different types of food that the restaurants that are here sell, especially the chicken smell and the aroma’s coffee of The Civil Service Cafe. I can hear the hip hop music that many people that live here listen to and sing all the time .
On the other part, it’s so funny to see this house colorful on Clifton Place. It is so nice to everybody in the neighborhood.

I like this place so much because you can find different types of food and people. Everyday I have to walk on these streets and I can see different situations and feel different emotions.
