During the summer in NYC, two friends are sitting at an outdoor restaurant beneath a big parasol. The restaurant is close to a traffic light. When the traffic light changes to red the cars stop. The first car that stops is an electric car.

Katy says, “I like this car. It’s amazing, like in a sci-fi movie. What do you think about electric cars?”

Paul sees the car and says, “Come on! That car is like a toy. The battery runs out and the game is over.”

Katy scowls and says, “The electric car is very quiet and very smooth.”

“Electric cars take hours to fully refuel”, Paul grins.

“Hey!” Katy exclaims. “Electric cars have high torque. Step on the accelerator and power is delivered immediately to the wheels. Do you like the acceleration?”

“Wow!” Paul exclaims, “Yes, I like the acceleration, of course. Why do you know all this about electric cars?”

“Because I’m thinking about buying an electric car and I found information on the Internet.”

“You’re crazy!” he laughs. “Give me a good reason why electric cars are better than a regular car?”

She nods seriously and says, “The cost per mile to fuel an electric car is approximately one-third to one quarter the cost of gasoline, and an electric car doesn’t have an exhaust systems and doesn’t need oil changes.”

He grins and says, “I have a friend who has an electric car, and he needs to change the battery and the new one is so expensive. So, crunchy granola, what do you think about this?”

She snorts and says, “Ok you have a point. Well I choose waiting for new battery technology. But you know electric cars are the future.”

“Yes, I know, but right now the electric car is so new and deficient,” Paul answers.
