Summer is a season of extremes in DC. It brings afternoon storms, hot sun on rooftops, flocks of interns at Jazz in the Garden, nipping mosquitos, plentiful dogs out for walks, and, of course, the ever-present crush of humidity. Some days, the only solution is to find an escape.

Enter DC’s public pools — 18 in all, scattered throughout the city. Each pool keeps different hours and opens on different days, making it tricky to keep track of where you can swim at any given moment.

That’s why local cartoonist and journalist Josh Kramer created a map featuring everything you need to hit up DC’s public pools this summer. The map compiles pools’ locations, hours, days of operation, and even their shapes into one handy reference.

Here’s a sneak peek:

730DC is publishing the map in partnership with Summerhouse, a brand-new indie magazine exploring DC’s DIY and underground culture.

The full graphic will be published on Friday, July 12, right to your inbox. To receive it, sign up for Summerhouse’s newsletter by Thursday night. You’ll get the graphic first thing on Friday morning — just in time to spend the weekend poolside.

We hope you’ll stick around, too! We’ve got a slew of great content lined up in advance of Summerhouse’s August 1 launch. We have a strict no-spam policy — just mini-interviews and short stories designed to help you get to know your neighbors and enjoy all DC has to offer.

Finally, if you want to get involved in Summerhouse, it’s not too late! We’re looking for a couple more stories and visual artists to bring the magazine to life. Check out our contributor guide and get in touch. (Yes, we pay all contributors!)
