Hello 👋! So things have been a bit quiet up here recently, but your sex tech round-ups are back! See what’s been going on the world of sex tech this week…

👀 Zoom privacy and virtual sex parties

Zoom now has 300 million daily active users, a 50% increase from the start of the month. It’s being used for all sorts of virtual meetings from conference calls with your colleagues to the pub quiz with your pals, and of course the odd sex party. Killing Kittens, famous for their female-friendly sex parties, held their first ever online one last month using Zoom. Now, nudity is technically against Zoom’s acceptable use policy, and they claim to use machine learning to detect this, but they haven’t shed any more details about how they’re policing it.

Should Zoom be amending its policy in light of the lockdown? Is this going to be another example where sex-positive communities and sex workers are worse off and excluded by technology? There is, of course, a fine line here. Zoom’s lax privacy rules also recently came under scrutiny due to a wave of zoom bombings, and rightly so, no one wants unsolicited pornography popping up in the morning meeting with their boss. 💥 New Product Launches

Wheel of foreplay

“We’re here to help you stay home and bone”

This the mission of a new product, Wheel of Foreplay, brought to you by a sex tech trifecta: Bryony Cole, Future of Sex Labs & You Porn. Pick from a range of packs to give you some sexy inspiration for solo or partner play.

There’s a wide range of packs including long-distance dating to more sensual shenanigans, not to mention the cheeky illustrations and animations on the website just keeps me coming back for more. Oh, and the website is just as slick on mobile as it is on desktop, in case you fancy getting frisky on your daily walk. It was also refreshing to see consent at the forefront of the product. This is definitely going to be my new favourite website during lockdown. Check it out here

I am Arla

Devika Wood has launched the first platform dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual abuse and trauma.

I was lucky enough to meet Devika at a mentoring event for women in tech and was blown away by her ambition and what she’s achieved so far in her career. With reports that domestic abuse is on the rise during lockdown, it feels like this platform is needed now more than ever. Check out the website here.
