Do you watch television shows you hate just to appease your partner and avoid a fight? If so, you’re far from alone. In fact, according to a survey of 2,000 people conducted by SkinnyPop, 67 percent choose to watch shows they don’t care for rather than get into an argument with their partner, and 65 percent of them believe this torturous television tradition is an expression of love.

“Decisions are never easy, but the survey showed that the stakes are especially high when making TV-watching choices.”

And how much love are people engaging in to keep their partners happy?

On average, 408 hours of bad TV annually.

However, some respondents are not willing to take this television torment sitting down. For 42 percent of survey participants, dislike of their favorite show is actually grounds for dismissal of a potential partner.

“Decisions are never easy, but the survey showed that the stakes are especially high when making TV-watching choices,” a spokesperson for SkinnyPop said.
