When getting hot and heavy with our partner, we expect our hearts to skip beats as we race toward achieving orgasm. However, a survey of 1,000 people in the United States and Europe by Superdrug Online Doctor found that sometimes sex can make people’s hearts race for a completely different reason — anxiety. This is particularly true when trying new positions, which isn’t surprising because nine percent of respondents admitted they’re not at all adventurous in the bedroom and 19 percent say they consider themselves only slightly adventurous.

So which positions made people’s hearts race for all the wrong reasons? Here is how the most anxiety-inducing positions, and other sexual activities, ranked among Americans and Europeans:

Public Sex

· Americans: 3.7 percent women; 3.7 percent men

· Europeans: 3.2 percent women; 3.2 percent men

BDSM

· Americans: 3.0 percent women; 3.1 percent men

· Europeans: 2.9 percent women; 3.0 percent men

Anal

· Americans: 3.5 percent women; 2.7 percent men
