There’s something about life, feeling, existence that has to do with tone. Irrespective of the situation, we can always set the tone, but the big question is, “what is our mood?”

It becomes difficult to set the tone when we can’t determine our mood with clarity. Mood in this case has to do with how you feel at a given moment.

More often than not, we masturbate through impulse. This impulsive feeling we experience stems from our state of mind and well being at that point in time. Quite recently I’ve been experiencing how dynamic self stimulation can be when we allow our genuine moods and feelings to take centre stage.

It isn’t about erotica

From imaginations, to staring at a basket of fruits, erotica comes in many forms. The idea that erotica is glued to masturbation is very flawed.

Self stimulation can transcend into self love, if only we allow it to. Self stimulation is impulsive, it’s selfish, it places the fleeting desires of our bodies over our entire well being.

Sometimes I wake up sleep deprived and my body gears towards masturbation, as a means of firing itself up. If I oblige that gratification, I open myself up into a mess, watch porn and indulge in an activity my body definitely doesn’t need in that particular state.

Self stimulation would get you focused on the moment, instead of your entire day, week, month.

Masturbation through self love

If you’re going to have a busy week, you can decide way ahead of time to stay away from the kind of erotica that wouldn’t fit into your week. Sometimes we don’t need porn at all, sometimes we need just photos, sometimes we need a phone call, we need a book, we need a pillow, we need a bath.

Self love would allow you look beyond self gratification, and include masturbation into your state of mind, utilizing it to build a healthy productive routine for yourself.

Masturbation can be more than just touching yourself

It can grow into self care, it can help you meditate and stay zen. A lot of actions we take each day always finds a way to affect our headspace. No matter what we do, we can’t stop our minds from thinking, we really can’t stop thoughts from flowing in our minds.

What we can do is control to a great extent the kind of thoughts that invade our minds. Masturbation is a cool way to open our minds to refreshing thought, it’s a way to connect more with ourselves, to sync with our mood.

Masturbation is very healthy

It’s only unhealthy when other parts of your life are unhealthy e.g hygiene, eating, sleep, rest, work.

Where we get it wrong is thinking masturbation is one dimensional, it really isn’t. Masturbation can suit your mood at that exact moment, it doesn’t have to excite it (always).

You can masturbate according to how you feel.

You can go all in with porn, your shower on standby, a bag of lube and your favourite fruit or you can just casually grind your bed or pillow. Contact or no contact, so far you’re paying attention to yourself sensually, it’s exactly the same thing.

Whenever you’re not connecting sensually with yourself, always reflect on why that is. Porn isn’t just porn, sex isn’t just sex, it’s an extension of who you are. Always guide those habits according to your threshold.

Masturbate every once in a while, it’s good for you.
