Let’s Not Forget Love

Erotica and sex advice can highlight the kinky and wild while glossing over the relationship

This month, I’ve published over 230 stories and sexual health essays since December 2019. I’ve focused mostly on writing erotica during the past several months.

When writing, it’s tempting to keep expanding limits and testing societal boundaries. It’s fun and helps keep me as the writer engaged and producing more, but I also want to remember one important word:

love.

How much sex can be devoid of love?

We all know sex can be casual whether through consensual hook-ups and it can be had among friends, like those at swinger’s parties. So, not all passion has to be powered by love.

Yet, sex happens in some type of relationship and longer-term partners need love (and more) to survive and thrive.

It’s a never-ending topic to explore and I’m certainly not the final word on the subject. But I want to make sure I don’t just describe the outward activity but show how the characters pursue something deeper. It won’t happen in every story since I have one in mind, my first micro-fiction that I’ll write this week.
