UX Resources for Monday Inspiration: Part 1

The search query “UX Design Resources” on Google yields over 81 million results. The variety of choice here is simply amazing, but often times, we don’t have the time to dig into such abundance of material to figure out something that’s worth our while. We at SFL have done some of that work to singe out blogs, resources and collections to share with you this week. So, what should I dig into for UX Design inspiration this week?

1. UX Magazine

If you want to stay current on what is, ahem, current in UX trends, strategy, tools and concepts, UX Magazine is probably the first resource you can check out. This is a free community resource exploring all facets of experience design, and offering thousands of resources in the form of workshops, conferences, study materials, articles and many more.

2. Smashing Magazine

As their self-description passage states, the Smashing magazine folks don’t care about design trends and what’s burning hot: they care about what works and what fails a product. Expect to find dozens of practically useful articles on different aspects of UX design and web design.

3. UXPin

The selection of the best content on mobile and web prototyping, mockups, wireframing,usability testing, project/product management, design process, approaches and best practices. It gives the opportunity to dig up stuff from the beginner to advanced levels, with robust toolkits.

4. Nielsen Norman Group

Back to the old but gold category. This one has been around for quite a long while. Since 1998, it has been bringing groundbreaking research, evaluating interfaces of all shapes and sizes, and guiding critical design decisions to improve the bottom line.

5. Awwwards

Awwwards is a huge meeting point where web professionals from from all over the world, sharing knowledge, insights, a space for debate, a place to share knowledge and experience, give and receive constructive and respectful critiques. In addition to that, you’ll come across a lot of great posts featuring web design, web development, graphic design, UX/UI and more by browsing the blog.

6. A List Apart

Web standards and web content, discussed and distributed across this platform, with amazing input from a number of contributors. The best of web content in one hub.

7. Design Shack

For over 15 years, Design Shack has showcased inspiring examples of design, together with resources and articles that teach aspiring UX people how to succeed in the same way. This blog attracts a wide audience comprising agencies, designers, businesses, organizations and individuals who are passionate about cutting edge web design technologies and design news.

8. Creative Bloq

This one is one of the most popular resources for professional artists and designers, a source of inspiration and getting new ideas every week.
