What do you want SFPC to be?

The first two days of SFPC could not have been better, mostly covering the conceptual aspects that will shape the learning process — i.e. our “code of conduct”, documenting and critiquing ourselves with daily/weekly goals, and creating the culture and environment we want to live in — and allowing the technical support to naturally fill the gaps between discussion and play.

I want SFPC to be like summer camp, my college tennis team, and my Babycastles community. I want it to be a safe place that I can come to explore and be challenged by my peers to flip my perspective on the world — seeing the negative space of uncovered questions. I spent the day today exploring Gibber, a javascript language meant for livecoding (in Ableton?) musical instruments. Even though it was only day 2, many people were already collaborating on finite ideas, so as of now I’d like to make some sort of noise machine and hopefully expand on my senior thesis, involving my body, movement, and performance. I would like to learn more about Terminal coding as well as expand on my processing knowledge and apply these skills to Gibber. I’m also excited to keep learning about everyone’s backgrounds, languages, cultures, jokes, and game ideas.
