Whenever we speak of Singapore, tourists and Singaporeans alike will definitely mention our very own Universal Studios! Despite the hefty entrance fee, throngs of fun-loving visitors still never fail to swarm to USS daily. To those of you who are making plans to visit USS, do keep a lookout for this list as we are revealing the must-know tips for you to experience USS like a pro! Let’s get started!

1. Avoid the queue

The queue at USS can be crazy, trust us. One can expect to wait up to 2 hours for wildly popular rides such as Battlestar Galactica (yes, this epic ride has reopened) and Canopy Flyer. To avoid the queue and make your time more worthwhile, we advise you to visit USS at 10am, right when they just open. Also, if you feel like you can give the street parades and fireworks a miss, then be sure to avoid weekends and public holidays at all cost! This is the bare minimum you can do to skip the queues and enjoy the rides quickly.

Alternatively, if you have some spare cash to spare, you can also purchase an express pass starting from $20, depending on the park capacity. This express pass allow you to skip the queue and based on our experience, shorten your waiting time to approximately 2–10 minutes only!

2. Avoid disappointment

On public holidays and school holidays, the theme park will undoubtedly be experiencing exceptionally high traffic volume. Thus, it is highly likely for the tickets to run out fast on such days. To avoid disappointment, be sure to purchase your tickets online before arriving at USS.

3. Dress appropriately

You probably know how treacherous the Singapore weather can be, so do remember to come in comfortable attire! We strongly recommend you to come in Singapore’s “National Attire”, which includes shirt, shorts and slippers. You will definitely be thankful for our recommendation when you are queueing under the merciless heat, sweating profusely.

Also, do bring a poncho to shield you from the splashes of water that might come your way when you are on certain rides!

4. Be Prepared For The Food

Being a world-renowned tourist attraction, one can expect the food in USS to be slightly pricier than outside. A plate of Hainanese Chicken Rice cost $9 per plate so if you’re not ready to pay that price, be sure to bring your own food before arriving! You can always buy some takeaways from Vivo City or prepare your own packed lunch.

5. Go For The Popular Rides First

Do not make the mistake of taking photos leisurely around the theme park when you first arrive. As more and more visitors spill into the theme park as time passes, the waiting time for the rides similarly increases too, especially for the popular rides! Hence, we strongly suggest you to head immediately for the popular rides such as “The Transformers Ride”, “Revenge of the Mummy”, “Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure Ride” and “Battlestar Galactica”.

It is never too late to take memorable and beautiful photos around the theme park during evening time, when the lights have all lit up, making USS extra beautiful, magical and photo-worthy.

6. Remember The Lockers

For certain rides in USS, carry-on belongings and cameras are not allowed during the ride. These rides include “Revenge the Mummy” and “Battlestar Galactica”. Hence, we strongly recommend that you head for the lockers first before queueing for these rides, as the staff will not allow you onboard if you still have your belongings with you!

The lockers are free for the first 45 minutes, and will be charged $3 for the subsequent 20 minutes. Hence, we further emphasise the importance of going for the rides first to avoid the queue, so that you can avoid paying $3 or more for returning late for your lockers!

7. Plan Your Route Beforehand

Despite all the tips we have mentioned above, it is still up to your own discretion on which rides you want to take and which character you want to meet. Hence, it is always very beneficial and helpful for you to plan the route you wish to take. Do you want to play the “Transfomers Ride” first? Or do you want to visit “Far Far Away” first? With proper planning, we are certain that your trip to USS will be even more enjoyable and unforgettable!
