What’s a drink that roaaaars? Yes, it’s the Milo Dinosaur! That is a glass of iced Milo with a heap or two of Milo powder added on top, served usually with a straw and a spoon. All locals are definitely well acquainted with this darling called Milo. But, for the foreigners, do you know what it is?

It is basically a chocolate malt drink by Nestlé in 1934 which can be formulated in either of two recipes — the Australian one, or the local one (which is actually made in Malaysia). The Australian one is more chocolate-y and creamier, many claim. However, for the Milo Dinosaur, the local recipe is used. Still, the drink tastes fantastic.

So, how do you drink it?

You can drink some Milo then eat some powder and do this alternately. Use the spoon to scoop some of the lumps and send it into your mouth. So many textures to this drink. Swill all the powder down with a large sip of the liquid.

Aah, doesn’t this different experience give you much pleasure?

The Milo Dino, though typically sold at Indian food stores, is also available at many coffeeshops outside. Today, it costs between $3-$3.50 for a glass, which is pretty affordable! It is a great accompaniment to roti prata!

The Dinosaur has gone international, being brought overseas (e.g. Taiwan) to let people over the globe have a taste of its ferocity.

Mmm… do you want to attack a Dinosaur now?
