Reflect on a recent conflict with someone close to you.

We’ve all been there, haven’t we? A disagreement, a misunderstanding, maybe even an argument with someone we care about. It can be a friend, a family member, or a partner. These conflicts, as challenging as they are, hold a mirror up to our inner world.

Now, think about it. What aspects of your shadow self were at play in this conflict? Maybe it was a hidden insecurity that got triggered, or perhaps a suppressed emotion that unexpectedly surfaced. It could be a part of you that feels undervalued, or a fear of not being heard. Often, these shadow aspects are the silent orchestrators of our reactions, pulling strings from behind the curtain.

How might acknowledging these aspects change the way you interact with others? Imagine the power of this awareness. Understanding these hidden drivers can transform the way you communicate and connect. It’s about recognizing your triggers and responses, not as flaws, but as parts of your story that need attention and understanding.

This reflection isn’t just about resolving conflicts. It’s about understanding how the shadow self affects our relationships. It’s a journey towards more authentic and compassionate interactions. When we understand ourselves better, we relate to others more effectively.

P.S. This reflection was inspired by the questions in the “365 Days of Journaling for Deep Shadow Work” by Ryan Puusaari, available on Amazon. This series guides us in exploring the role of our shadow self in our relationships, helping us to understand and improve the way we interact with those close to us.
