Day 4: Unseen Motivations — Deep Healing Shadow Work Exercise
Think about a recent decision you made.
It could be something small, like choosing a new coffee flavor, or something big, like changing jobs. Decisions, big and small, shape our lives. But have you ever stopped to wonder what really drives them?
Let’s dig a little deeper. What unconscious motives might have been at play? Maybe it was a desire for security that nudged you towards a safer option. Or perhaps a hidden longing for adventure made you pick something bold. It’s interesting, isn’t it? How these unseen forces, like currents beneath the surface, can steer our choices.
These hidden drivers, they’re a part of us. They’re the whispers of our deeper desires and fears, often ignored but always present. Understanding them is like tuning into a radio frequency that’s been playing softly in the background. Suddenly, things make more sense.
How do these influences shape your life? Maybe they push you towards comfort when risk could bring reward. Or they could be holding you back from embracing change. Recognizing this can be a revelation. It’s about acknowledging that part of you — your shadow self — that silently shapes your path.
This isn’t just self-awareness. It’s a journey to the heart of who you are. And it’s powerful. Because once you see these influences, you can start making choices that truly reflect your deepest self.
P.S. This reflection was inspired by the thought-provoking questions in the “365 Days of Journaling for Deep Shadow Work” by Ryan Puusaari, available on Amazon. These questions are a guide to uncovering the subtle ways our shadow self can influence our decisions, leading us towards a more conscious and fulfilling life.
