Hi, my name is Aleksandr. I am 23 years old, and I have been to more than 50 countries. At the moment I work in digital marketing, but like many other young people, I want to make the world a better place.

A few months ago I did not know what to start from. Because it’s a simple but very abstract idea because it’s hard to find how to make the world better. To resolve that I started the Shake The World podcast centered around social entrepreneurship and global initiatives, cos my heart was calling for a change — to drive the world to its’ better state. I expect that talking to people experienced in social projects-making will make a sense for me, and I will find my way in social entrepreneurship. I also see that in today’s world many people search for their mission, challenging, and life-changing, but yet not succeeded. By running the podcast and this column I hope to contribute to someone’s inspiration, decision-making and social «doing». Read us below, stay tuned and get inspired.

Mahatma Gandhi once said: “If you want to change the world, start with yourself.”

Looking at his life, there stay no doubts he was not following the message. He managed to take down the British Empire without violence. His example was followed by other people such as Dalai Lama or Martin Luter King Jr. He was quite skinny and shy but he showed the world how one person can change the world and it’s a great example. If he could do it, why you can’t?

After all these years passed, the words still rule the globe — thousand of world-changers are still getting empowered by the power of self to make the world a better place to live. And this is right where social entrepreneurship rises, especially amongst millennials.

For example, 86 percent of millennials think that business success should be measured in terms of more than just financial performance. 1 out of 4 new enterprise set-up every year in the European Union.

At the same time, getting an idea of a project — what exactly you are going to work on — seems to be an extremely difficult task at the very beginning. If you have no idea, then you can start volunteering and look for ideas for your projects (if you want to start your projects). Another of the good ways is to study the UN studies, and other organizations on different topics, they give references to other examples of companies that do the same thing, or references to studies. Using this method you can easily find a study that has proven its worth and which is ready to be implemented. Sure, this is not the end, and Shake The World is one another tool you may use in your search.

And let me tell more about our project called “Shake The World”. It is a podcast about people who make the world a better place today. It is designed as a series of face-to-face interviews with world-changers where they share their personal stories, experiences, and life hacks. By this moment I have already released the first 5 episodes with incredible projects-maker — Howard Weinstein, Troy Wiseman, Dr. Mitch Besser, Noam Angrist, and Galen Welsch. In its turn, we have also decided to run this column which is supposed to be a broader source with the newest reports and trends in social entrepreneurship as well as unique stories which will help to get a deeper immersion. Both of the projects are our non-profit contribution in a better world where social enthusiasm replaces profit-seeking and self-interest. We believe that together we can make our world better. So stay tuned, get inspired and join the world-changers.

In a gentle way, you can shake the world.
Mahatma Ghandi
