“What happens in the end?”

Now, that’s a question worthy of belying so many possibilities with such few words. Be it an enchanting novel or a captivating movie, we all want to know the details of climax. Somewhere deep inside in this thirst of knowledge lies our rooted helplessness: you don’t know what’s going to happen to you in the end. So, you try to make up by learning about others’ eventuality. It isn’t that we can’t guess anymore. Just that our guesses about ourselves are often shrouded in untenable surprises.

If I were a playwright, I’d say I relish it when there is a twist in the story. Which is also why I enjoy the myriad assumptions—in real life, not on the stage — of what could have been. And let me share some of the random thoughts I’ve had on this very topic.

Plot twist #15: We are closer to 2020 than ever before.

Plot twist #16: You are immortal while your loved ones are fading away one by one.

Plot twist #17: Weekend is a communist myth.

Plot twist #18: Thursday felt exactly like Monday.

Plot twist #19: Knowledge is not the answer.

Plot twist #20: Love is not the question.

Plot twist #21: Your dreams have blocked you.

Plot twist #22: Reality doesn’t give a damn.

Plot twist #23: Our love story won’t cum to an end.

Plot twist #24: Your sneeze miraculously turned into my hiccup.

Plot twist #25: The government neither cares about minorities nor cows.

Plot twist #26: Nothing changes and hypocrisy continues.

Plot twist #27: Irony, not oxygen, keeps us alive.

Plot twist #28: Your heart isn’t broken. You are.

Plot twist #29: Life so dull even China isn’t spying on us.

Plot twist #30: We all get enlightened together at the same time.

Plot twist #31: It’s 2040 and fatwa is still around.

Plot twist #32: The world ends on a weekend instead of Monday.

Plot twist #33: Curiosity made the cat kill the dog.

Plot twist #34: This lousy blog post is about you, not me.
