What are you afraid of?

Yes, that’s our question for the day.

I wish more people asked each other these kind of questions instead of the redundant “How are you?” and “What’s up?” and “Weather blah blah sky blue?” — you know what i’m talking about.

Anyway, what scares the hiccups out of you? Let me put it in a different way: If there is one thing that you would drive you straight into an asylum, what would that be? At what point would you stop worrying about your safety and start losing your mental faculty? Fear has to go beyond the obvious challenges every once in a while. Don’t you think so?

Me neither.

But for non-argument’s sake, let’s just say, you open your bathroom door tonight and there’s a little illuminated pupil-less boy looking straight at you. You haven’t even switched on the light. Would such a scenario keep you sane enough to turn 180 degrees faster than Jet Li and run for the main door? Or would it make your heart stop doing what it was originally designed for? Would you just freeze in a manner that would make the Eagles and their Hell envious of you? Or would you simply lose you mind? If not on a permanent basis, then temporary? Hmm.

OK. This was too tense. Let’s lower the bar of unlikeliness.

What probable event numbs you so much that you won’t even entertain the thought, let alone discuss? Is your worst fear projected on someone else instead of yourself? For instance, are you scared of losing your parents/siblings/SO/friends or all of them, despite knowing very well that you will lose them sooner or later? Worse still, they might lose you someday and will cry themselves to sleep for 11 nights before getting used to falling asleep without wetting the pillow. Does the very thought make your blood pressure drop instantaneously?

If not, then what is your breaking point? Ask yourself this important question because in the ring of life, the only guy you ought to knock out is fear before you get too tired. Fear manifests itself in all available shapes as long as we are willing to stay away from its cold embrace. Regardless, at the end of the day, your fear is a tool of your imagination. What scares you most likely won’t kill you. At least not in the way you scripted.

PS. To answer the original question, i am very afraid of lizard but it won’t make me lose myself at all. That might happen if lizards are involved.
