Parties, pierogis, and a health screening package.

Mao Zedong once famously proclaimed that “women hold up half the sky,” and now that belief has been distilled into a half-day off for all ladies on International Women’s Day. That happens on March 8, and if you’re looking for somewhere to go during your break, here are 11 places offering discounts to women.

The Portman Ritz-Carlton

The Portman Ritz-Carlton is offering complimentary items for women at both its bar and restaurant. At the Ritz Bar & Lounge, there’s a one-for-one deal on their afternoon tea sets, and at Portman’s Restaurant, ladies get a free glass of Martini Rosé and a homemade dessert when they come for dinner.

Bread etc

The French bakery is bringing back their red velvet cake for Women’s Day. It’s made from cream cheese, homemade whipped cream, and mascarpone, then soaked in crème de cassis liqueur. The cake comes in two sizes — the bigger, heart-shape Mon Coeur (¥88), and the smaller, lips-like Le Bisou (¥28). Available at both their stores.
