Following the sale last month of two Boeing 747s, which conclusively proved that you really can buy absolutely anything on Taobao, an unfinished skyscraper is now going up for auction on the e-commerce site at the low, low price of 553,190,000 yuan ($84 million).

The 156-meter-tall building, located in the Shanxi capital of Taiyuan, was originally designed to be a hotel. Construction on the project started in 2006 and major work was completed by 2010, however, by that point, the building’s developer had run out of money.

All of this can be yours!

Afterward, the structure was turned over to the courts. Unable to find a buyer through traditional avenues, the Shanxi Provincial Higher People’s Court has decided to take the unfinished building, along with the land that it occupies, and put it up for sale on Taobao.

The public auction on the 39-story structure, which boasts more than 76,000 square meters of floor space, begins on January 2nd and lasts one day. The starting price is 553,190,000 yuan and each bid must increase the price by at least 1 million yuan.

Best of luck to you all.

The Shanxi court may have just got this idea after a Shenzhen court was able to successfully auction off a pair of Boeing 747 jumbo jets on Taobao last month for a grand total of around 322 million yuan.
