A dedicated husband was recently caught on camera cutting through a road barricade late at night in Guangdong’s Dongguan city, aiming to make his wife’s morning commute a bit easier.

Surveillance footage shows the man walking onto the street after midnight last Thursday. Then, sparks fly as he uses a power tool to take out a chunk of the guard rail separating one side of the road from the other.

It turns out that this was not the first time he’s done this. He also performed some similar street surgery last month.

After being detained by police, the man explained that his wife ran a stall on the other side of the street and had to walk a few hundred extra meters each morning because of the barrier.

Therefore, he decided to take action, though he claims that he never told his wife that he was the one making the guard rail disappear.

Last December, a Jiangsu man similarly fed up with his daily commute decided to take action by painting straight arrows on a pair of turning lanes, aiming to ease traffic congestion at one annoying intersection.

Rather than do this in the dead of night, he did so in the day as cars whizzed by him.
