A driving school in Dezhou, Shandong province has discovered a novel new way of teaching its students to be careful when reversing their vehicle by having them put their smartphones on the line.

While a group of students practiced backing into a parking space, each student was instructed to place his/her phone on the ground on top of the yellow line marking the space. If the driver made a mistake, it was bye bye smartphone.

The school’s instructor said that the students actually came up with this idea themselves and everyone agreed to take part. He added that he noticed the exercise caused the students to employ an extra bit of caution and everyone’s phone escaped unscathed.
