Yet another video has hit the Chinese interwebs illustrating how some brides in China have to deal with constantly being screwed with on their special day.

The clip shows the bride in a traditional red wedding dress approaching the family matriarch to pay her respects. She is then “helped along” in this process by a man in a black jacket who comes up behind her, grabs the back of her head, forces her to the ground, and makes her kowtow to the elderly woman.

The bride doesn’t take kindly to this intrusion, getting up off the ground and slapping the man square in the face.

However, it quickly becomes apparent that the audience is not on the woman’s side, shouting that she really shouldn’t slap the man, declaring that, after all, it was only a “joke.”

China’s controversial tradition of “wedding pranks” — in which newlyweds are forced to engage in sexual games or humiliated in some fashion on their wedding day — has come under increased scrutiny of late.

Particularly as, earlier this week, a video went ultra-viral on Chinese social media which was rumored to show the drunken father of the groom forcing his son’s bride to kiss him on stage. The family has since claimed that the father was merely pretending to smooch the young woman, acting in accordance with the local tradition of “pranking the bride.”
