At long last, the most popular song of our time has a proper version in Mandarin.

Singaporean pop star JJ Lin has teamed up with Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi for a Mandarin-Spanish version of the latter’s worldwide super-duper, ultra-hit “Despacito,” which is translated into Mandarin as 緩緩, meaning “slowly.”

This new version of a song that you’ve likely already heard dozens if not hundreds of times, features the two artists showing off their language skills by singing a few words in their counterpart’s mother tongue during the choruses.

“Despacito” was never properly released in mainland China and this version could help to bring the unquestionably catchy tune to a whole new audience, much like how Fonsi’s collaboration with Justin Bieber on an English-Spanish remix elevated his song to all new heights.

Just released on Friday, the JJ-Lin & Luis Fonsi version has already tallied 2.6 million views on YouTube. Admittedly, it still has a bit of catching up to do before surpassing the original's 4.7 billion YouTube views.
