Lucky passersby pick up 3,000 yuan in cash from floor after ATM goes rogue
Unfortunately for them, their act of opportunism was caught on surveillance tape
Sometimes, it’s just your day… as long as you don’t let your conscience get in the way.
Earlier this month, a married couple were walking down the street in Ningbo, Zhejiang province when they happened to notice an ATM gone rogue, spewing out dozens of banknotes onto the floor.
Quickly, they hurried inside the room, picked up 3,000 yuan ($473) in cash, and fled the scene.
Unfortunately for them, their act of opportunism was caught on surveillance tape. Police were eventually able to track the couple down and convince them to return the money to the bank.

It’s not clear how the police managed to “convince” the couple to give up the free 3k yuan, but we assume it was something heartfelt and moving about human kindness and altruism.
