Middle school teacher slaps student 5 times for slipping grades, ‘too fashionable’ bookbag
The teacher has been transferred and penalized for her ‘overexuberance’
A female middle school teacher has been transferred from her post after video leaked onto Chinese social media showing her angrily slapping one of her students at the front of the classroom.
Video apparently shot by another one of her students shows the teacher scolding and even cursing one female student while slapping the kid in the face and ears five times in about 25 seconds, with each slap ringing out throughout the classroom.
Yesterday, the principal of the middle school in Dingbian county, Shaanxi province where the incident took place responded by explaining that the teacher was upset at her student for her slipping grades and for her wearing a “too fashionable” schoolbag, according to a report from the Beijing News.
The principal added that the teacher had been too “overexuberant” in punishing the student. She has been transferred from her post and hit with demerits to her record.
On Weibo, netizens are wondering just what is wrong with carrying around a “fashionable” bookbag, calling for the student to be awarded the opportunity to slap her former teacher. Others would simply like the chance to check out the student’s ultra-trendy school bag.
