Chinese zoos continue to be not the safest of places for peacocks.

A visitor to the Qinhuangdao Wildlife Park in Hebei province recently uploaded footage of four children chasing a white peacock inside of the zoo as their parents watched from the sidelines.

The visitor says that the children stepped on the peacock’s tail and plucked its feathers while their parents did nothing to stop them. In the footage, the kids are seen running around while holding large white peacock feathers.

The park told Btime.com that just after the incident occurred a staff member came over to “educate” the parents. The park also added that the peacock was not hurt by the kids.

Recently, visitors to another zoo in the Jiangsu city of Yangzhou discovered that four of the zoo’s peacocks were missing tail feathers. The zoo vowed to increase security in the area where visitors and animals are allowed to roam around freely and promised to report future peacock-pluckers to the authorities.
