Authorities in Guangdong province are currently on the hunt for a man who was filmed casually walking on a beach in the tourist hotspot of Hailing Island with a live dolphin slung across his shoulder.

An unnamed official in the local fisheries bureau told Btime.com that according to reports they had received from witnesses, the dolphin had become stranded on the beach, looking like it was about to die, when the man picked it up and took it to his car.

The official explained that dolphins are protected animals in China and that whether the animal was dead or alive, the man should have called the proper authorities, rather than taking the matter into his own hands.
