Pregnant woman blasted online after deliberately tripping kid inside restaurant
The woman decided to take revenge after the boy inadvertently caused a door flap to hit her while she was eating
Netizens don’t have high hopes for what kind of mom one pregnant woman will turn out to be after surveillance video went viral over the weekend showing her sticking her foot out and tripping a kid who was running around inside a restaurant in Shanxi’s Baoji city.
The footage shows the 4-year-old kid dashing headlong into the restaurant, causing one of the door flaps to swing over and hit the pregnant woman in the face as she was in the middle of eating a bowl of malatang.
The woman obviously took offense to the inadvertent swipe. When the boy came running back down the aisle, she stuck her foot out, causing the kid to trip and fall.
Reportedly, the boy was in the process of grabbing some chopsticks from the restaurant for his parents, who run a shop nearby.
Immediately after seeing that her child had fallen, the kid’s mother went looking for answers. But, when questioned, the pregnant woman reportedly claimed that her stomach was upset and quickly left along with her husband before police arrived at the scene.
Afterward, the youngster was taken to the hospital for observation where doctors diagnosed him with a mild concussion, but found no serious injuries. His mom said that she was worried about her son because he suffers from congenital heart disease.
The following day, the pregnant woman turned herself in to police and met with the child’s father and mother, apologizing and expressing her willingness to pay for the boy’s hospital bills. The woman was fined 1,000 yuan, but police said that they would not detain her for the customary 10 days because she is seven months pregnant.
Overnight, the pregnant woman has become public enemy №1 in China with netizens hunting down her information and making judgments about what kind of mom she will be. Web users have used words like “cruel” and “childish” to describe the woman, pointing out how after tripping the child she didn’t even care enough to look to see if he was okay, instead going straight back to slurping down her spicy soup.
“This woman is obviously not mentally old enough to have a child. She’s a little brat that hasn’t grown up,” wrote one Weibo user.
Though some have blamed the child’s parents for not keeping a better eye on him, the lion’s share of the blame has fallen on the pregnant woman. “The child didn’t know what he was doing. The pregnant woman did. That’s the difference,” commented another Weibo user.
Meanwhile, the boy’s mother has tried to call off China’s infamous “human flesh search engine,” saying that she doesn’t want to do the pregnant woman any harm. She said that the two parties have reached a settlement and that she advised the woman that rather than using her hands (or feet) to discipline her future child, she should use her words.
