A young woman hoping to attract more followers to her livestreams with a little cosplay has instead been thrown in jail by the fashion police.

On Tuesday, a netizen posted on Weibo about a livestream hostess on Kuaishou named “Little Devil” (小祖宗), who was dressing up in a police uniform. It wasn’t immediately clear if the woman was in fact a cop, however, net users claimed that she hailed from Suileng county in Heilongjiang.

Two days later, the public security bureau of Suileng county announced that the woman surnamed Hu had been arrested following an investigation. Turns out, she was not an actual police officer. Surprise, surprise.

Hu allegedly began building up an online following in April 2016. To help in that effort, she purchased a police uniform and wore it often for photos, videos, and livestreams on various social media channels.

Claiming that her wardrobe choice had caused “serious damage” to the image of the police, authorities decided to detain Hu for 15 days. Sadly, there have been no webcasts from her in prison garb.

Last year, an actual policewoman in Liaoning province was fired from her job for posting some “vulgar” selfies in uniform on Weibo.

As livestreaming has exploded in popularity in China, authorities have been kept busy cracking down on all the various alluring ways that creative young camgirls have discovered for enticing followers — including eating bananas.

In November of last year, one 21-year-old Chengdu woman was sentenced to four years in prison for broadcasting “obscene” videos online, including one of her having a foursome.
