Shanghai Disneyland officially opens its new Toy Story Land!
The expansion includes three new rides and heaps of nostalgia
In a historic day for our fair city, Shanghai Disneyland has opened its first new expansion — Toy Story Land.
If you’ve been to either the Hong Kong or Paris Disneyland, you know what to expect from this colorful zone that’s designed to make you feel like you’ve been shrunken down to the size of a toy.
Just like at those two parks, there’s a 30-meter-tall, U-shaped RC Racer coaster called Rex’s Racer:
And a family-style carousel ride known as Slinky Dog Spin:
But, Shanghai’s Toy Story Land does at least introduce one new ride, an Old West-style spinner called Woody’s Round-Up:

This is Shanghai Disneyland’s seventh themed area and its first major expansion since opening in June 2016. Disney CEO Bob Iger was on hand for the unveiling and had some nice things to say about the park’s success in China.
“We’re grateful to the people of China for wholeheartedly embracing Shanghai Disney Resort, for truly making it their own and also making it one of the most successful theme parks we’ve ever opened,” Iger said.
