WATCH: Tencent CEO Pony Ma dresses up in hip hop attire to sing cheesy ballad at company event
Things that China’s second richest man does for fun
Tencent CEO Pony Ma is apparently looking to challenge Jack Ma for the title of China’s coolest tech tycoon surnamed Ma.
At a recent company meeting in Beijing, Pony Ma, also known as Ma Huateng, the founder of China’s most valuable company, whose personal wealth is estimated at $43.1 billion, showed up looking like this:
Before performing the Chinese ballad “At Least I Still Have You” (至少还有你) on stage.
Ma wore a similarly “urban” costume to a company Christmas party in Shenzhen last month where he sang “Mr. Almost” (差不多先生) by Taiwanese rapper MC HotDog.
Alibaba CEO Jack Ma set the gold standard last year for quirky Chinese billionaires by doing his best Michael Jackson impression at his company’s annual birthday bash — in a video that has to be seen to be believed.
Ma followed that performance up by belting out “Unchained Melody” at a music festival, stealing the stage from Chinese singer Li Jian, before then starring in a short kung fu flick in which he got to defeat martial arts legends like Donnie Yen and Jet Li.
We patiently await a Ma vs. Ma karaoke showdown.
